Remarks

None of the hotels are within walking distance to the conference venue (the university campus). However, the university is located on a small hill not far away from the city center and with good connections via the public bus system (direction "Wissenschaftsstadt / Universtiät").

So, in order to provide some helpful information we comment on some of the hotels which we have grouped according to their geographical setting.

The most convenient group of hotels is located near to the central train station. The intercity hotel is the one which is directly located at the station. The train station has a bus stop in front. From there it is just a 12 minutes bus ride with no. 3 directly to the venue.
The hotel ibis is next to the theater about 600 meters from the train station. It also has a bus stop directly in front. Other hotels are also within walking distance to the theater bus stop (e.g. Hotel Stern, 1 Minute) or more close to the famous cathedral Hotel Bäumle, the hotel Ulmer Spatz, the zum Anker The walking distance from the cathedral to the theater bus stop is about 5 minutes.
Another group of hotels is located in the picturesque Old Town of Ulm (called "Fischerviertel") between the cathedral and the Danube. E.g. Das schmale Haus or hotel Schiefes Haus. Those hotels have access to the bus stations "Rathaus" (city hall → social event on Tuesday) or "Steinerne Brücke" within a few minutes. From those stations bus no. 5 will depart to the train station (then change to no. 3).
There is also a Maritim hotel at the Danube, also with access to bus no. 5
